Phase 3

EdTech Curriculum + On the Ground in Brazil

Several weeks into working with SIPA Professor Sarah Holloway and designers Adam Royalty and Joseph Heritage in SIPA’s Social Enterprise class (for the Columbia cohort) and workshopping (for the Brazilian cohort), the six international teams of the EdTech Design Challenge unveiled working prototypes of EdTech solutions for feedback at Demo Day.

Then, after months of collaborating remotely, the international cohort convened in São Paulo. During this immersion in Brazilian schools, our teams conducted face-to-face interviews with dozens of teachers, pedagogues, and students. This in-depth field research allowed our innovators to understand the reality and challenges faced by schools, and the inherent issues in deploying technology to solve critical education problems.

The teams turned their research into action, pivoting and building new minimum viable products (MVP)s that tackle systemic issues in Brazil’s education sector.

Check out each project and more images of the cohort’s trip.
