BestFit is the Netflix of college discovery. BestFit is a web application that uses video narratives and personalized recommendations to drive information sharing between students and colleges. The app empowers students to identify colleges best equipped to support them, all while disrupting the college recruiting industry,
BestFit’s mission is to close the gap in college decision-making and create a clearer, more defined path to college. BestFit envisions a world where knowledge and social capital are not only accessible, but equitable, and colleges emphasize programs & services over rankings, experiences of real students over diversity statistics, and student outcomes over prestige.
BestFit was founded in 2018 after its co-founders Asha Owens (’18TC) and Rebecca Kwee (’12CC, ’18TC) won Teachers College’s inaugural EdTech Innovation Award. Since then, the team has pitched at SXSW, won a $100,000 grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, been named fellows at 4.0 Schools, and joined Monarq Incubator, an incubator for women-led startups. BestFit is completing a pilot study in a NYC public high school and preparing for our beta launch in 2019.
