Nerd Skincare

Evelyn Chen received a masters degree in biomedical engineering from Columbia in 2011 and specialized in tissue and organ engineering. She has always been passionate about skin care and curious about how the beauty industry operates. After 4 years of working in a skin care research and development lab, she saw a need for products that could drastically change skin and improve its overall health without the use of harsh chemicals or invasive treatments so she founded Nerd Skincare.

Nerd Skincare is a startup skincare brand with the mission of revolutionizing skincare by creating beauty through science. The brand is led by a belief that a better understanding and application of science makes for healthier skin.

The brand initially launched with a collection of biocellulose facial sheet masks in January 2015 which was covered by Vogue, Allure, Lucky and are sold on Amazon and Birchbox. It reentered the market in January 2016 with an acne collection that uses a person’s facial bacteria to fight the acne bacteria.

Through pairing modern science with technology and harnessing the power of each individual user’s facial flora for a customized treatment, skin is transformed without the use of harsh chemicals and invasive treatments.
