Project Playdate is a child care service that curates drop off child care experiences with NYC’s most celebrated spaces, specialists, and attractions for kids! Now, Amanda Raposo ’17BUS and Courtney Bernabei ’17BUS, are expanding the company’s offerings to include Playdate, an online platform and mobile app will allow parents and caregivers to seamlessly coordinate social care for children with an activity or theme. Through a “pooled pay” model, families can book the trusted and enriching care they need and at a lower price point than typical one-on-one care.
When a parent needs immediate or “off-hour” child care, their only market option was to hire a babysitter. Unfortunately, in this space, there are limited affordable solutions for parents to a book a high-quality professional for one-on-one care. One-on-one care has no established quality control – making parents feel anxious about bringing someone into their home. One-on-one care is not lucrative for real professionals – making it difficult to recruit and retain the best people in child care. One-on-one care is boring – depriving a child from all of the social, playful and enriching opportunities that are often available to them in their local communities. Now, Project Playdate is changing the way people think of childcare.
Created from a passionate belief that all families deserve access to affordable and enriching child care, Project Playdate has executed over 200 playdates to-date and has a network of over 1,000 New York families. With an established customer base, pre-seed funding of $100K, and a well-rounded team that includes a strong Board of Advisors, Project Playdate has both the momentum and tech-based approach needed to take this proven value proposition and scale it up to every major U.S city.
