Dilip Rao ‘18BUS and Mohsin Memon ’14BUS saw the opportunity to solve real-world problems by helping New Yorkers do what they already do every day: order takeout. With only ~5% of orders in the $70 billion US food takeout industry being placed digitally, they saw a unique opportunity to enter a rapidly growing market, while also contributing meaningfully to society.
With Sharebite, users can place their pickup or delivery order from over 2,000+ restaurants in NYC, while supporting a cause they are truly passionate about – all at no additional cost. For each order, Sharebite will either donate a meal to help feed a child facing hunger in New York City (through a partnership with City Harvest), or donate 2% of every order to a charity of the user’s choice.
As a food ordering marketplace with a social mission, Sharebite has the ability to achieve scalable impact and solve real-world problems – all without passing a penny of that cost to the user. Simply put, for people who already order their food on an app or website, placing that order on Sharebite will not only cost the same, but it’ll also go towards a good cause. Join Sharebite and help #takeouthunger for good.
