Uber Academic

Andre Lewis ‘14BUS, inspired by his passions for education and working with young people, saw a need to assist the New York City school system where almost a third of students are failing classes. With the encouragement of his professor Barbara Roberts, Lewis created Uber Academic – a private tutoring, test prep and academic camp.

Uber Academic uses a holistic approach to tutoring rather than just getting students to pass an exam. Their team of tutors travel to student’s homes providing one on one tutoring (grades k-12) in all five boroughs.

Uber Academic recently participated in Crain’s Perfect Pitch and was accepted into the Harlem Garage Incubator which will serve as its headquarters. They aim to reach 300 students in 2014 using their budget of $1.2 million.

Andre Lewis ‘14BUS, a serial entrepreneur, started his first successful venture at the age of 16 in the education arena. Since he was 10 years old, he knew he wanted to be work in an industry that would allow him to grow as a leader and embrace his passion of working to further the lives of others.
