Xaalis, founded by Babacar Sy ’19CBS, is a low cost remittance startup for sub-Saharan African countries. Currently, sub-Saharan Africa is served by a number of big-name banks and remittance services. These companies charge extraordinarily high fees, sometimes 20% above the global average. Xaalis will take only a 3% fee, maximizing the effectiveness of each dollar sent to countries from abroad. The company uses blockchain technology to encrypt and safely transfer money, at minimal cost.
