Social Media workshop reaches more than 450,000 on Twitter

The buzz on Twitter (#cjsm) started days before the Social Media One-Night Stand, hosted by the Continuing Education Department of Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and Prof. Sree Sreenavisan, actually began. And it continued throughout the Dec. 1 event and after, ultimately reaching an audience of more than 450,000 followers.

Pulitzer Prizes for Journalism move to all-digital entry system

The Pulitzer Prize Board is moving its journalism competition online and, beginning now, entries in its 14 journalism categories must be submitted electronically. The change, announced today, will affect the 2012 competition, which covers work during calendar 2011.

Hazel Sheffield reviews "Rum Diary" for the Economist

Hazel Sheffield, a 2011-2012 Fulbright Alistair Cooke Scholar studying digital media at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, was one of hundreds of students and alumni who attended the special Hunter S. Thompson panel last month by the Alumni and Development Office. Sheffield, however, took the event one step further and reviewed “The Rum Diary,” which screened as part of the panel and stars Johnny Depp, for the Economist.
