SUMMARY:It's About Damn Time: An Evening with Arlan Hamilton
DESCRIPTION:Less than 10% of all venture capital deals go to women\, people of color\, and LGBTQ founders. Other venture capital investors see this as a pipeline problem. Arlan Hamilton sees it as the biggest opportunity in investment that no one is talking about. \nThe Columbia Organization of Rising Entrepreneurs (CORE) will be welcoming Arlan onto campus tonight at 6:30pm in the Lerner Cinema for a fireside chat on Arlan’s journey and vision for the stronger and more diverse future of venture investing and entrepreneurship. \nWith her venture firm\, Backstage Capital\, and a new $36 million fund for black female founders\, Arlan is changing entrepreneurship in the U.S by investing in high-potential founders who are of color\, women\, and/or LGBTQ. Arlan built Backstage Capital from the ground up\, while homeless. Arlan herself identifies as a Black queer woman of color.
