Back in 2006, Jenny Fielding, ’94BC, left her job at a big bank to found Switch Mobile, a voice-over-IP company. After selling the company in 2009, she began angel investing, and soon “developed a taste for mentoring and helping startups,” she says. Pursuing this passion, Fielding founded a venture group at the BBC and launched an internal accelerator there called BBC Labs.
After her success at Switch Mobile and BBC, she was granted the opportunity to join Techstars as the firm’s Managing Director. She explains, “Now I run two programs for Techstars: our FinTech program in partnership with Barclays and our Internet of Things program.” She is focused on bridging the gap between startups and major corporations, citing that intersection as the place that “innovation can happen.”
