The Barnard/Columbia Design for America Studio (DFA) revolutionizes the way college students engage in community service. Part of a national network of passionate young thinkers and activists, the Barnard/Columbia DFA Studio partners motivated undergrads from all disciplines with faculty members, community non-profits, and NYC professionals to develop sustainable solutions that address local community issues. From redesigning condom packaging in collaboration with health clinics in Harlem to building interactive community bulletin boards that improve post-disaster neighborhood resilience, DFA takes learning beyond the classroom to train and inspire the next generation of design thinkers and social innovators.
