Dearest is a next gen childcare, powered by education. It was Founded by Eiko Nakazawa, who became a parent while working at the Columbia Startup Lab on a venture she founded with Hitomi Kimura, ’14SEAS. Being an entrepreneur mom, Eiko was shocked by the lack of quality, flexibility, and transparency in the childcare market. Research shows that the learning environment in the first years hugely impact a child’s future achievement and happiness. Yet, it is extremely difficult to access educated and qualified childcare providers who can inspire and teach the little ones. Dearest is a marketplace of childcare providers who are passionate about how and what a child learns. It is a technology & community based platform that empowers parents to pursue their passion, without compromising the quality of their child’s nurturing environment.
After closing an angel round in fall 2016, the team has been working towards its soft launch scheduled in the first quarter of 2017. The team consists of passionate designers, developers, parents, researchers, and educators, who are excited to be disrupting the childcare market.
