Stilt

Stilt was co-founded by Rohit Mittal ’12SEAS and Priyank Singh ’11SEAS with a mission to make financial services simple for immigrants. Their first product is a loan to international students and working professionals at the rates they deserve. Both Rohit and Priyank were international students from India and faced challenges of a limited credit history right from the start. It was difficult to get basic things like a postpaid phone, renting an apartment, a credit card, etc.. They used their data science backgrounds and worked diligently on a better way to assess risk of these immigrants who don’t have a credit history.

They were part of Ycombinator W’16 batch and have already given loans to students and graduates from 12 universities and 6 nationalities since they started last year. Stilt loans can be used for anything from tuition payments to buying a car. Many students at Columbia University have already taken advantage of their low interest loans and saved money. They are planning to expand to all U.S. universities with international students over the next year.

Stilt is growing fast and proving to be an invaluable resource to international students and graduates. If you need a loan at rates you deserve, visit Stilt’s website – https://www.stilt.co
