After rupturing his eardrum and struggling for several days to find a doctor, Cyrus Massoumi ‘08BUS founded ZocDoc in 2007. ZocDoc allows you to schedule doctor appointments online from a central resource listing of all available medical offices, doctors, and insurance carriers.
Today, Massoumi and co-founder and CTO Nic Ganju ‘08BU have successfully have achieved this vision and have taken their platform nationwide. In the process, they have raised $95 million from some of the best investors in the world and have been widely recognized by Crain’s and Fortune Magazine for the terrific work culture they have built at ZocDoc.
More than 2.5 million patients use ZocDoc each month to find a nearby doctor or dentist and instantly book an appointment online. The company’s most recent product, ZocDoc Check-In, allows patients to fill out their paperwork online in advance of their appointment. By revealing the ‘hidden supply’ of appointments, ZocDoc helps patients receive faster access to care and optimizes doctors’ schedules. ZocDoc is available in more than 1,800 cities and covers 40 percent of the US population. This service is free for patients via ZocDoc.com or the free ZocDoc app for the iPhone and Android.
