Loan Kim Chu, SIPA & CBS (Current)

Kim Loan is a social entrepreneur, human centered design enthusiast, and technology strategist. Prior to Columbia, she most recently came from Population Services International working on marketing, research and design projects in global health across Asia and Africa. Previously stationed in the San Francisco Bay Area, she has also spent 3.5 years in management consulting across technology, products and nonprofit sectors.

Kim Loan co-founded Tâm Journey (formerly Tịnh Tâm), a digital social enterprise dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of Vietnamese youth (first place winner of 2020 SIPA Dean’s Challenge). She was a TA for Sarah Holloway’s “Creating a Social Enterprise” course and is currently a TA for Computing in Context (Python), Design Fellow, and eLab Graduate Fellow.

Kim Loan is in her final year of the MBA/MIA dual degree and is passionate about education equity, financial inclusion, and mental health.

In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, playing her guitar/singing, hip hop dancing, discovering city gems, and hosting community gatherings.
