BlackOakTV, founded by Uzo Ometu CBS’13 and Iyanu Obidele, is a video-on-demand service that exclusively delivers content for the underserved Black film and TV viewer.
While only about 8% of original scripted shows on streaming services have Black leads, 75% of Black TV viewers want to see more content dedicated to their demographic. BlackOakTV is an online service created to address the lack of Black representation in media.
BlackOakTV will produce, curate, and distribute content featuring Black people and their stories. After signing up, users will be able to choose from a library of Black TV shows and movies, and enjoy those stories on their mobile phones, computers, or Smart TV apps.
