Modern Guild is an innovative online 1-on-1 career mentoring program for high school and college students. Founded last year by Adrien Fraise ’07CBS, Modern Guild matches students with dedicated, high quality Career Coaches who guide them through an 8-10 week online career discovery and readiness program.
Modern Guild offers three programs designed for students of different ages: Exploration, Immersion, and Acceleration. Exploration focuses on self-discovery to define potential career paths based on interests and competencies. Immersion helps students narrow their career interests down to 1 path based on their skills and interests. Acceleration, designed for college students, is industry specific and helps students learn technical skills while improving their interview and branding skills to be better positioned to land their dream job. One highlight of the program is access to Industry Mentors which provides students the opportunity to learn directly from those in the fields that they want to pursue. Modern Guild has worked with close to 250 students at top universities and high schools helping them realize their career passions and maximize their college learning experience.
Over 25 Columbia students and alumni, serving as Industry Mentors, have participated and/or are participating in the Modern Guild program. It has been a positive experience for both audiences.
“Probably one of the most valuable and life changing experiences of my life. I do not even want to think about where I would be right now if I did not realize what my true calling in life was: becoming a doctor.” – Anna, Columbia University Student
“Modern Guild excels with its assignments and development of protégé (student) interactions. It’s vital for students to know how to sell themselves to the workplace, and Modern Guild helps cover these areas very well.” – Tara, Career Coach, Columbia Business School 2013
