Stacy Tarver Patterson ’16BUS is Managing Director at West, a Venture Studio that enables companies to define and defend their market opportunity with a brand people love. A seasoned marketer as culturally curious as they come, Stacy brings 13 years experience in marketing and brand strategy, including 5 years leading teams across the U.S. and internationally. As a Managing Director with West, Stacy is instrumental in advising companies’ strategy, marketing, and creative across a range of industries and visionary partners: COR’s self health revolution, Proxy’s digital identity solutions, LogicInk’s wearable wellbeing platform, Sweeten’s modernization of home renovation, and Katalyst’s power assisted training system, among many others.
Stacy started her career building automated tracking and analytics tools in Bear Stearns’ Financial Analytics and Structured Transactions Group, but ultimately felt called to more positive impact and took a sideways detour to learn nonprofit fundraising and marketing with the YMCA. Later she spent over a decade at Nike in a myriad of diverse roles in brand strategy, planning, and digital marketing; including stints leading the marketing teams in Beijing and Shanghai, two of Nike’s largest growth markets. She is truly a believer in the art and science of marketing and remains adamant that these disciplines should never be carved off into silos. Perhaps this is rooted in her multiracial identity and lifetime of refusal to just ‘select one box.’
Stacy holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Management and Organizational Behavior from NYU Stern along with an MBA from Columbia Business School, where she was selected as a Columbia Fellow. She has also studied web design and interaction at the Portland Art Institute, Chinese at Peking University, and data science in the Berkeley MIDS program. Once upon a time she set the NYU Track & Field record in the Long Jump, which somehow still stands. Nowadays she enjoys running (slowly), having completed 20+ marathons including three of the six World Marathon Majors.
Stacy and her husband split time between San Francisco and NYC. Her puppy “Bao” is known to drop in and cause some excitement at West, both in person and virtually.
