Skolay

Skolay is a mobile platform for 1:1 conversations between writers & readers who cherish elevated and engaged dialogue. We help writers talk directly with readers without having to give out personal info, send emails, reconcile schedules, or ask to be paid. Simply put, Skolay is a marketplace for conversations that otherwise can’t happen.

We started Skolay because we feared the social consequences of an internet optimized for content rather than conversation, entertainment rather than engagement, and mimesis rather than meaning. We built Skolay to break the mind-forged manacles that prevent great conversations from happening between people who otherwise can’t talk. Writers have taught us that deeper engagement starts with more active dialogue.

Skolay harnesses the psychology of office hours to eliminate the greatest barrier to reaching out—the fear that the writer on the other end is too successful or busy to care. By being on Skolay, every writer you see (we call them “Fellows”) is taking the unexpected first step of opening the door. This distinction makes a world of difference.

If you are yourself a writer or reader, or if you’re just curious to learn more, don’t hesitate to drop us a line, peruse our website, or follow us on LinkedIn!
