Gavin Newton-Tanzer `10CC first became interested in extracurricular education as a competitive debater in high school. Sensing a demand for alternative forms of education in China, Gavin co-founded Sunrise in 2011.
Sunrise is a social enterprise based in Beijing, China and New York, USA devoted to promoting international education reform through extracurricular enrichment. Sunrise pioneered an innovative model of student engagement, cultivating grassroots student communities centered around extracurricular activities and building bridges between these student communities and international institution of higher education. Sunrise has since built a strong case for educators and parents across East Asia that extracurriculars leagues like debate, model united nations and business simulations are the solution to many of the deficiencies in standardized education.
