Open Studio Hours (Mondays, Tuesdays): Are you a Columbia, Barnard, or Teachers College student with an idea, and want to get personal design thinking feedback from the Columbia Entrepreneurship Design Studio? During Studio Hours, teams or individuals are invited to discuss their projects or ideas one-on-one with human-centered designers in the Studio. Teams of Columbia students are also welcome to use the studio space for working independently on their entrepreneurial projects. The hours for Spring 2022 are:

Athena Entrepreneurs Weekly Meetups (Thursdays): These meetups, open to aspiring and emerging women and nonbinary entrepreneurs from Barnard and Columbia, are a forum for collaboration, peer support, and mentorship from experts, including Athena’s Entrepreneur in Residence. Guest experts regularly drop in to share wisdom and insights, sticking around for one-on-one conversations with student entrepreneurs. Data Science Day (Apr 6): Hosted by the Data Science Institute, Data Science Day provides a forum for innovators in academia, industry, and government to connect. The April 6, 2022 event will feature lightning talks from leading Columbia University faculty members; a poster session on the latest data science innovation; and keynotes from senior industry and government representatives. Healthcare Venture Day (Apr 15): Hosted by the Mailman School of Public Health, Healthcare Venture Day showcases passionate and talented student founders across Columbia University, featuring pitches of their innovative, world-changing companies solving the toughest problems, with an ambition to scale across the healthcare industry. HC Venture Day will include a pitch competition, inspiring guest speakers who take on healthcare challenges in the entrepreneurship space every day. The day will conclude with a networking hour, bringing together like-minded individuals to openly discuss their ideas.
Columbia Build Lab (Rolling Admission): The Columbia Build Lab, which connects MBA student founders with technical talent from around the University, is currently taking applications for undergrad and graduate level Software Engineers, Product Managers, and Product Designers for the summer 2022 cohort. Almaworks Demo Day (Fri, Apr 29, 11:30am on Zoom): Startups from this incredible Spring ’22 cohort will present and pitch their companies to the Columbia Community, as well as a variety of VCs and Angels. This will be followed by a Q&A session for each team.

Zaijia will present research on the variability of entrepreneurs’ how emotional expressions influence the impressions they leave among their followers.
Credit Supply and Entrepreneurship in Low-Income Regions (Seyed Mansouri PhD ’21)
Seyed studies how financing frictions impact the real economy (e.g. machinery and product quality, entrepreneurship, investment activity, etc).
She Opened the Door… to Entrepreneurship (Apr 30): Since 2018, the She Opened the Door initiative has aimed to enlighten, educate, elevate, and empower self-identifying women from across the University. We’re excited to announce a new all-day in-person event for those interested in learning from Columbia entrepreneurs. The day will kick off with a keynote address from Barbara B. Roberts, Former Entrepreneur in Residence (now Advisor) at the Eugene Lang Center for Entrepreneurship at Columbia Business School.
Design Community Study Day (May 4): We’re opening the doors to Columbia Entrepreneurship’s Design Studio located at Riverside Church on the 4th floor in Room 430 on 5/4 from 11-3pm creating a relaxing work space for students across Columbia. Team projects + individual work are welcome. We’re providing snacks, coffee, relaxation stations and offering a few voluntary design activities to help you get unstuck. Feel free to stop by anytime between 11-3pm

2022 Medical Device Innovation Challenge (Apr 30): Biotech Accelerator’s Empire State Development grant supported Medical Device Innovation Challenge (MDIC) is now in its 6th year having graduated 28 teams to date.
